Connecting cloud to business value

Alastair is a cloud strategy and transformation leader whose career at AWS has taken him from Sydney to London to Dubai — each move expanding his scope across some of the world's most complex enterprise cloud transformations.

Today he globally leads the strategy and delivery of the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework — defining, authoring, and evangelising the prescriptive guidance that shapes how thousands of organisations and AWS field teams adopt and scale the cloud. His focus: making sure organisations can adopt cloud and AI with confidence, and at pace.

He works where the boardroom meets the architecture diagram. From reframing a migration review into a Day 2 operations conversation with a CIO and their leadership team, to designing sovereign cloud foundations for regulated industries, to hosting AWS on Air and presenting at AWS re:Invent — he focuses on one thing: connecting cloud and AI to tangible business value.

And he stays hands-on. He holds all 14 AWS certifications, designs multi-account landing zones with AWS Control Tower and the Landing Zone Accelerator, builds with the AWS CDK, and engineers AI agent pipelines that make AWS guidance machine-readable and pre-validate it before human review. Strategy lands differently when the person presenting it can also build it.

He firmly believes the best transformations are as much about people and culture as they are about technology.

Globally leading the strategy and delivery of the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework — defining, authoring, and evangelising the prescriptive guidance that shapes how thousands of customers and field teams adopt and scale on AWS. Led the guidance team behind the AWS Well-Architected Agentic AI Lens from first draft to public launch, and engineers the metadata schemas and AI agent pipelines that make AWS guidance consumable by both humans and machines.

Cloud Optimisation Solutions Architect, MENAT

Partnered with C-suite executives across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey to architect enterprise-scale cloud solutions. Global Enablement Lead for the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework. Sovereign cloud foundations for regulated industries, Cloud Centres of Excellence, and executive engagement on AI transformation.

Promoted to lead customers end-to-end through their cloud journey — from pre-sales and scoping to delivering customer and partner projects worth over $1M with teams of ten. Regional lead for the Landing Zone Accelerator across Asia-Pacific: architecting governed, multi-account landing zones with Control Tower, CDK, and CloudFormation for universities, financial services, and highly regulated organisations — including self-service research environments serving 20,000+ users.

Associate Cloud Architect, AWS Professional Services

Designed, architected, and built customer solutions on AWS using CloudFormation, Python, JavaScript, and SQL — specialising in cloud infrastructure, foundations, and IoT. Defined requirements, led engineering teams to deliver against them, and ran one-to-many workshops grounded in the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework as a certified ScrumMaster.
